Acorn Banksia

 

Flower color is orange and gray, 18 cm x 8 cm (7" x 3"). Mature size is a tall shrub or small tree to 24'.  A shrub or tree with narrow-toothed leaves to 30 cm (12").  Blooms in winter.  This is an Western Australia species, drought resistant but frost tender.  Propagation is by seed. 

DO NOT FERTILIZE WITH PHOSPHOROUS FERTILIZERS!

*Sow seed 1/8" deep in well drained media.  Give preventive fungicidal drench.  Germinate 3-12 weeks at 64 - 80 degrees F.
