Banksia canei

Mountain Banksia

 

The flower color is bright yellow, 10 cm x 2 cm (4" x 1") in size.   The mature shrub size is 1-2 m (3-6'). Leaves are narrow and pointed.  Banksia canei is found native in Eastern Australia in Victoria and southern New South Wales.  This species will tolerate more humidity than the Western Australia species 

DO NOT FERTILIZE WITH PHOSPHOROUS FERTILIZERS!

Cold stratify for 8 weeks.  Then sow seed 1/8" deep in well drained media.  Give preventive fungicidal drench.  Germinate 3-12 weeks at 64 - 80 degrees F.
